I could cry right now.  I really want to join this swap, but with two already going, I don't have any time to take on another swap and balance my schedule at my university (10 hour days most days).  *frowny face*  will there be a round two?  I hope so...

We'll see how this one goes, but with trees' popularity and longevity I can't see how there won't be!  Smiley

So, progress.  We have 16 participants and I have matched some of you up already because WOW a lot of you have similar interests!  This is a great thing!  You will be very happy with your partners, I hope.  Even though we still have almost a week to go.  Sheesh...

I know, the wait must be killing you.  It's OK.  You will have plenty of crafting time to use not only to craft for your partner, but to get to know her as well!  Well, assuming we all end up being female, which is pretty likely.

I am pretty excited about this swap and I have tons of ideas!  I am hoping you all do too and you are keeping track of them in some way... I need to start writing things down, but I'm not much of a writer.  Smiley

Great! Now I have the theme song from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly in my head lol

I'm waiting to sign up as a reward for finishing up and sending out swaps that I'm late on. :-/ Been a rough month, I tell ya.

Also! I actually use my Wists as a place to collect ideas for swaps and for things to make for myself. If it's something for a specific swap, I'll tag it with a keyword related such as "tree" and then if it's something I want to make or receive I leave it public; if it's an item that I only want to make for someone, then it's a private one!

Well, I just sent out one of my swap packages, so I decided that I have time for this swap.  It's going to be special for me, because I am planting baby trees on my property as part of a riparian restoration project.  We just planted 200 trees withing the last year and a half, so I'm really into this at the moment.

Ok, everybody.  Here's my question.  What's your best memory regarding a tree?
I remember as a child, my mama would tell me to go outside and play in the summer time.  I would stuff a book under my shirt, go out to the cherry tree, climb waaaay up in the branches to hide and read my book, undisturbed.

I love trees!  I've inherited this from my parents, who were semi-obsessed with baby trees while I was growing up.

We lived in Missouri but would make annual summer trips to Minnesota.  We almost always brought home 1) trees from Minnesota that are not as available in Missouri (like birch) and 2) river rocks.

I also really liked a huge weeping willow tree that was in the backyard of one of my uncle's house when I was small.  It was so elegant and fun to sit under.

Hey, I live in Missouri =]

Hmm, I really really wanna sign up... I LOVE TREES! People call me a tree hugger all the time and my nickname has been Tree (although not because of the tree hugger reason) for about 5 years.
As for my best memory...
When I was little we used to have an apple tree in our backyard, and every summer I would wait and wait until the apples were finally big enough to pick. Me, my sister, and my dad would look for apples forever. There was this one time my aunt and I went to go pick apples once, and I swear, if I'm remembering correctly, that she picked me one and I took the biggest bit I could out of it, and to my surprise saw a worm that had made it's way into my apple! BLEH! After that I ALWAYS looked my apples over very carefully for any worm intrusions. I remember one year there was a big thunderstorm and lighting struck the tree and I was so sad because, at the time, only have the tree was actually living, and the lightning struck and living part. So now, sadly, we have no apple tree... =[
