I like how the color on the cabinets really makes the countertops look better. I love it. I wish I could do something as simple as paint to make my kitchen cabinets look 20 times better. sadly I just need new cabinets and countertops.

Fantastic!! This shows what people can do with just a little money and some effort. Your kitchen is a bit similar to mine, minus the paneling. My house is on the market. I wish I could show this to perspective buyers and tell them this is what this kitchen could look like.

Had I had any attachment to this house, I would have done something to the cabinets also. Congratulations on such a good job and showing those idiots who spend tens of thousands of dollars on a kitchen re-do that they are wasting their money!

I love that you painted the pineboard white. The house we are looking to buy has the same board in the family room and just grosses me out. I'm really happy to see that it looks great!

It looks great!  Excellent transformation!

I'm curious about how you added the trim?  Did you use construction glue (no more nails)?  Or was actual hammering involved?

Anyway, It looks lovely.

That looks great! We're in the middle of a budget makeover, too, so I enjoyed seeing your ideas. You completely transformed the room. While I wouldn't have picked those colors myself - they look fabulous! Funny how sometimes it takes someone else's eye to make you see the possibilities...

All I can saw is wow! Your house looks like my house! LOL I've been waiting (5yrs) to have money to replace our kitchen, but you've now inspired me to simply paint! AND, you had gosh awful paneling like we have in our entire game room.  Since I have no idea what's under the paneling, I never even thought that it would take paint. What sort of paint (oil based, flat or what) did you use on the panels?Huh Great job!

Wow, what a difference, I love it!  Is the ceiling the same color as the cabinets?  My fiance and I just bought a house too and we are slowly remodeling some areas... so trust me, I know all about not wanting to spend any more money after buying a house  Cheesy  Also, we painted the wood paneling in our apartment (many years ago) and can it was a huge improvement, but I've never been a fan of wood paneling...

Amazing job!  When I first started to read it I thought oh okay, it's kinda dark with the wood cupboards and such but it at least looks clean and fresh. Then I scrolled down and saw the transformation- Fan-freaking-tastic!!!

I love the colours and the changes you made, great job!!!

Big thanks to everyone for your wonderful comments. You've made my day! That horrible paneling was in almost every room in our house. We used regular paint on everything, but did apply a nice coat of primer first. We cut the trim on the cabinets using a miter saw and then applied using a nail gun with trim nails. I filled the holes and then painted them.

Thanks again!

Looks fantastic.  It's amazing how a little paint can really update the kitchen.  We did something similar (will post our's right after I finish this reply).  Well done.
