Problems with Badge-A-Minit

Hello there; this is my first post at Craftster and I hope you can help! I just got a Badge-A-Minit hand press and every now and then the button come out with a little of the clear plastic covering coming out of the back. I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem and may know how to fix it. Thanks a lot!

Which badge-a-minit did you get? Because I had one of those small hand ones and they messed up a lot. I upgraded to a bigger table model and had less problems but still once in a while one will mess up. You just have to take your time and make sure the plastic is in perfect. I don't think they are easy till you upgrade to the expensive machines which I never could afford.

I have this press. I've found that sometimes, when you are pushing down the red piece, mine is difficult and I have to hear two 'clicks', to make sure that the red piece is completely parrallel to the blue(does that make sense?). If it isnt, the plastic wont be completely snapped into place for the 'final squishing'. Thats one thing I've noticed. Also, keep in mind the thickness of whatever image paper you are using. I've found that certain papers are too thick and making any buttons with them result in the plastic sticking out or the edges around the face of the button to fold.

I just wanted to thank you both for helping me out! Yeah, that is the press I have, and so far I've been following your advice and they have been turning out fine. I guess the occasional accident is unavoidable. Thanks again!

Wow something i know about!!
Did my share with the hand one, now have the mama table top version.
Always make sure you only have one mylar on there too sometimes you slide one extra on there
These machines are sooooo much fun!

does it not get crimped into the back, or does it tear away from the back?  I had a lot of trouble with the mylar being cut by the edges of the Bade-a-minit parts, so I switched to a different brand, I think they're USA Buttons parts, but I can't remember offhand.  Haven't had any problems with the USA buttons ones cutting the mylar.  also, they're a little more domed on top, which I like better than the flat-front badge-a-minit.

i did a test with my table top when i bought it. I think it was one or two in every 20 or so that got messed up. I don't use the badge-a-minit parts that came with mine either, i switched to the ones from buybuttonparts.com. They say they are badgeaminit, but they don't have the logo on the back and they work better.

I just got my 1.25 inch BAM and after the initial 6 mistakes due to me not reading the directions right (LOL) it hasn't messed up but one time - and I had cut the paper wrong, so really that was me. The Meow Won't Purr, your explanation makes perfect sense - you have to hear a big thump on the red part, and check it - if it is crooked, you have to press more...

I am dying to get started, now I just need buttons to make, lol!
