VYVYAN! YOU UTTER BASTARD!

I've had a really hard time coming up with a halloween costume this year. I'm already making costumes for my sister and her best friend so I don't have a lot of time to make something for myself, but I definitely want to avoid buying a costume.
However, I was at the dollar tree this afternoon and picked up two HUGE black buttons, just because they were awesome. I was  messing around with them trying to figure out how I could use them when I saw my copy of Coraline lying around, and it hit me.

I want to be The Other Me for Halloween. How creepy would that be, and it would be so simple! just wear my normal clothes but whiten my skin, wear pointy red nails, and... oh crap.

How am I going to get these buttons to stay on my face?
Ive never been great with makeup, but maybe latex or something?
ANY ideas would be greatly appreciated.

maybe get some mellow glue that you can put around the edges of the button to stick it to your face?
I'm not sure how friendly that'd be to your eyes, though...
Or maybe get a cheap pair or reading glasses and put the buttons between the glasses and your face?

I was the Halloween-me last year.
I did muchos makeup and (for the first time) spiked up my mohawk. Fun times.

Thread clear stretchy bracelet string through the holes and fashion yourself some button eyeglasses.  The stretchiness will make it stay taught to your ears, but it should be see-through enough to give the illusion of staying in place naturally.

That's what I was thinking! But I don't know how it would stay on the ears.

As long as it's a loop around each ear (a circle of string for each side) and your ears don't bend forward, I think it'll work just fine!  Smiley

I think it would be more uncomfortable than you realize to have buttons stuck to your eyes (think of trying to blink).  I would go with the idea of sticking them to some glasses  might work if you are bent of using the buttons.  If not, have you thought of getting some good quality face paint (not the stuff that they sell at walmart and target) and painting buttons on?

Last year for Halloween I was a Zombie trucker and I broke up pieces of hard plastic and stuck them to my face and neck.  I used spirit glue.  You can usually get it in a package with a small bottle of spirit gum remover for a couple of bucks in the halloween aisle.  Lots of people use it for sticking costume-y make-up on their faces.  I know the theatre students at my university use it all the time, so it should be safe.  I had no problems with it.

Here's my friend Laura and I. I'm the one on the right trying to look as "un-dead" as possible...

Try eyelash glue.

That's exactly what I was going to say.

I would definitely say get some waterproof eyeliner, and paint the buttons, it is going to suck having the buttons on your eyelids. Unless you just use the spirit glue and put them up above your eyes. That might work too.
