My goal for this week was to have the yarn dried and photographed BEFORE Friday. Well, I got picts, but they are kind of crummy. It's pretty yarn.

Head on the Door, from ArtClub's batt of the month club. (It's a reference to a cure song)About 3 oz and 230 yards, plied with black sewing thread. It's a little more black than the pict, but it also shifts colors as you look at it. It doesn't have a plan yet. I think it needs to be some sort of lacy scarf.
And then this one that I'm really proud of.

Summer storm, again an ArtClub batt. it too is about 3 oz and is 333 yards. I'm REALLY proud of the yardage and how thin I got it. It's about 13 WPI. It's going to be a shawl for great gram for christmas. I just have to find the perfect pattern- ravelry here I come!
Jazzturtle has the same batt club membership I do and she showed off her version of it last week- she spun hers up bulky. I'm so intrested to see how different people spin up the same batts!

Oh, that fulled alpaca looks yummy! I love the fuzz.

I've been getting ready for a craft show this sunday, so I haven't really been posting on fiber fridays much...here's my yarn progress as of a few days ago:

I visited a local angora goat farm two weeks ago and picked up a bunch of delicious super soft kid mohair locks, so I've been doing a lot of corespinning:

(the pictures aren't the best, it's all rainy and dim here)

And a bit of tailspinning:

Ah, I love goatie fluff. Happy friday!

Hey All,

Haven't been spinning much lately. We're rebuilding our bathroom and I've been knitting tons of gifts lately. Busy busy.

isamax - I love the fulled alpaca. The colour and texture is awesome.

So here's what I have for this week....

Grass and Sky - Spun from some batts that I carded ages ago. Corridale, BFL, Soy Silk, and Tencil. Thick and thin - worsted to extra bulky. Ever so soft

Same as above but solid green. Lovely!

your yarn is super beautiful, I'm totally in love with yarn, I love the color and the feel of a yarn. Now that I've finally taught myself to knit I find it very hard to pass by yarn without giving it a good rub down. Anyway, craft on!

okay, I'm spinning with a fancy cat handspinner and the yarn is a millimeter thick until I ply it. It is so hard and thin I wonder what the finish will be. Then I do a Navajo ply and it is so soooft and luscious that the craziness is worth it.

So look and enjoy, but sorry you cannot feel this yarn, it is so nice.

clickable thumbnails:

I don't know remember from which swap I got this roving, but I thought I was finished, and this morning found more. . .
ocean colors:

I shopped the swap and chose a 1 oz batt from lapoli called you and me on the sand. the aqua part spun really well, but the sand part had shortish fibers. So I carded bits of the sand into the aqua and the resulting fiber was just gorgeous.

ooooh! I forgot, the thread is Ultima Poly embroidery thread, just to add a bit of shine! I added it as I Navajo plied.

it reminds me of turquoise stone, and now I'm hoping to get more from lapoli!

And this is also spun teeny-tiny, overspun and hard, but when Navajo plied, it turned out super sooooooooft, too!

I'm loving, and envying all the yarn posted so far!

Wow, what a beautiful start to FF everyone!!  I am drop-dead-in-love with jeweled toad noodle princess, I just want to grab into my computer and smoosh it.

Here is my contribution for this week.  It is 80 yards merino/firestar, thick and thin.  I am spinning it's fraternal twin next week that has more purple and taupe and less of the chartreuse.

I call it Mustard and Grape Sandwich:

I've been busy knitting up mitts and hats and scarves from some previously spun yarn but managed to get some new skeins spun.

From roving I picked up at the Fiber in the Park last weekend:

4 oz Colonial (still have 4 oz I'm spinning now to ply with):

2 oz mixed wools:

And from Penquino's Funky Batts:

I just got in 2 more of her Funky Batts, and am excited to spin them up!!

From the raw dorset, I knit these and tea dyed:

i love Gleam & Orangina! gleam looks like those fluffy colored marshmallows, and orangina, well, the first time i ever saw that drink, i was working my first day in an office full of wimmin after working in an engineering office, which was all male. there it was, chilling in the refridgerator. i died laughing, then snapped a pic to send to my beau. i had to buy some, its delicious, and is now a running joke with us! even saying the name, orangina, makes me giggle, so you totally made my day, and the yarn is gorgeous in itself!!! hehe orangina

So much awesomeness this week!  I'm loving everything, but the colours in Inchworm are just awesome.  My wheel was out of commission for a month (!!) while I took my time replacing a part..  But as soon as I got it replaced, I spun up a bobbin of singles from my last HollyEqq batt club batt.

I've only spun about half, so I should have a good amount of yarn when I'm all done, yay!

Jazzturtle has the same batt club membership I do and she showed off her version of it last week- she spun hers up bulky. I'm so intrested to see how different people spin up the same batts!

OMG!!  these are just BEAUTIFUL!!  I, too, just LOVE to see how people use the same fiber to create such different yarns!  I wish I could spin that thin and even!!  I got 63 yards of bulky thread ply from the summer storms batt!  LOL!!  I have plans for the pink and black one that includes fuscia and black angelina, kidd mohair locks and sparkley pom poms...

Abby, your corespun kid mohair is delish!!  I have a bunch of kid mohair that I have been hoarding and now I have to just pull it out..  but the I'll use it up and can't pet it.. LOL!!  The tailspun yarn is fantasitc!!  totally amazing!  that's a intertwined technique that's on my to try list but I haven't yet..  maybe with some of the kid mohair stashed..

it's been rainy here so I'll try to get my yarns from this week posted tomorrow.. I corespun a bunch of loop babycakes from her "elements"  batts, so I have 4 skiens, one for each element.. I plan to knit a cool scarf..

I really like checking out fibre Fridays and seeing all the wonderful colourful creations that are posted.  I have been afraid to try spinning as I already have a "fibre addiction" and I am sure that spinning would just add to it.

Please keep up all your hard work for my viewing pleasure.
