Bea, in IE8 you can set it to delete cookies on exit (that is when you close IE8 down).  You do this in your browser, under tools, Internet options and the General tab. Under Browsing History you will see a button for deleting cookies and a check box that says to delete on exit.  Deleting on exit might be a bit more aggressive than you want as there are some cookies that are beneficial.  You could click on the Delete button and then select what you want to delete when things slow down or it's been a few days, depending on your browsing style.

For those that have or think they need to go to IE9, you might want to Google some information on it before you do.  IE9 seems to have changed a few things about how people can manage their own cookies and browsing history (that's Microsoft thinking they know best) plus, once you go to IE9 you can't back out like you can IE6, IE7 or IE8, if you decide you don't like it. Once you install it, you are stuck with it unless you know how to clean out programs that don't want to be cleaned out.

For sites like this, I wish there was an option to pay for a ad-free or limited ad membership. I'm on a few sites that have that capability and I have no problem with paying (within reason of course) to use a site that I do use. I don't know what the going rate is per key click that this site is getting, but individually, it can't be that much... unless inflation has improved the pay off. Cheesy

It is a mixed blessing, that's for sure.

I just cleared my cookies. Craftster is much faster now. Thanks!

Your browser/internet in general should be much faster for you now!  Because I'm online so much throughout the day, I clear mine nightly before I shut down my system.  I use a program that clears cookies, browsing history, my Recycle Bin, etc.  I don't know what I'd do without it!  Actually, I do.  I'd lose my mind. Cheesy
It is! It is! the sad thing was that I had to go through like a million sites and log back in, and for a bunch of them I couldn't even remember my username, let alone the password. And the email I used for it too. I managed to get in though.

I'm just truly thankful that you don't do Readers Digest style ads.  I mean, COME ON NOW, who the heck needs 20 pages of MiracleWhip recipes and ads?!?!  LOL

Maybe one of those super coupon-ing people who buy 50 tubs of it at a time because they can get them for 20 cents with these 15 coupons put together....

So THANK YOU for not doing that.  Hee hee.

(dang it, now I want pie with whipped cream on top)(now I just want pie)(PIE)

I'm sorry, mskatie. Sad  We do not currently have a paid option that will eliminate all ads.

Thanks for your reply, Mike!
I guess I'll just keep deleting my cookies through tools - internet options- delete, opting out of the 'passwords' and 'form data' ones (even though it still does delete some sign-in cookies...).
I'll try and do it daily now. It doesn't cost that much time.

Paying to eliminate ads on the site seems like a great solution to me.
I would certainly be willing to do so.

Oh the part where it was running into the post after it is/was some kind of tech problem, it definitely isn't supposed to do that and it's been fixed or is being fixed

When I have the screen text-zoom size set to 100% or 125% the ad placement is ok, but when I have set to 150% it doesn't resize right compared to the rest of the screen, because it almost totally covers the next post. This might be more an issue with my laptop more than anything, but I thought I'd mention it just in case. (Windows 7, IE8 - I haven't tried it on another computer with a different setup)

FWIW, the ad runs into the post underneath it on a PC with XP and IE8 too. (view text zoom = 100%, view text size = medium)

Hey all,

Just so you know I just got out of a weekly conference call that was 90% focused on the widget and all these issues. We probably talked for about 30 minutes and I brought up a lot of the comments and a lot of the suggestions in this thread, and the tech team is trying to take a new approach to fixing the whole "words coming into the next post" situation. (Currently, I believe if your browser is less than 800 pixels wide it will do this.)  I will try to take a moment (probably tomorrow) to reply to people more thoroughly, but just wanted to get this update out to you!

I just played with the new ad search feature and it's pretty cool. I put in embroidery floss and up popped floss for me to check out. I like that-if I'm looking at project that I want to try, I can find the supplies right there-that is way cool!
