Well I wanted to try a couple of tutes but was afraid of messing up REAL fabric. So I cut up some tshirts and Voila!!
Peasant shirt  tute meets rookie mom easy pants tute.

I used the original neck band on tshirt for waistband and cut sleeves for existing sleeves so NO HEMMING!!!
I actually didn't think they would come out so nice so I didn't think of color combination. Hubby keeps telling me it looks like a baseball jersey. But I'm too proud of myself to care and maybe i'll learn to applique so I can put a flower or something on it to girlie it up a little.

SUPER-CUTER! that super-cute little baby looks super-duper-cuter in her little outfit! perhaps you could attach an image from a different tee? that's what i do with most of my sons clothes, he outgrows them and i cut off the images and sew them onto plain shirts or as cute knee patches. a blanket stitch is really easy and usually looks nice on a shirt.

It is cute!  You could actually go with the baseball theme and applique a number on it.  I'm sure you could come up with a team name too.

Very cute! I love the way it turned out and never thought to use jersey. I think my 6 month old daughter needs some! Instead of an applique, you could always do an iron on.  I get them on clearance whenever they have them at our craft store.
