Remember to use the "Show Images Only" feature to view this thread at its best!! Smiley

Here are our "scrapbooks" from...
2007 http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=203572.0
2006 http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=123346.0
2005 http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=60346.0

Now, I want to see completed costumes for 2008!!

  • Post homemade creative costumes here, not store bought costumes.   Everyone knows what Hot Topic's costumes look like, we want to see YOURS!  Smiley
  • Feel free to start a thread ALL about your costume and come to this thread to post a photo or two and a link to your detailed thread.  I'd like this thread to be one long photo scrapbook!  (you won't get deleted for "double posting")
  • Post photos and brief descriptions here.  If you don't have a photo...this isn't the thread for your project.  Wink
  • If your costume was inspired by another custome, please post a link & give credit to that person/costume.
  • Post costumes YOU made or are going to wear THIS year, not costumes your brother's sister's doggie, Fluffy wore in 1993.  Cheesy

I just finished mine!! Cheesy

"Marie" [Antoinette]. Marie from Disney's the Aristocats, but Marie Antoinette style [I wore the dress for my birthday, October 16th, which is the same day Marie Antoinette was executed!] I made my entire outfit, and my husband and I made his executioner costume, too.

Hi all! After having trouble finding one cute costume for my sweet eleven month old, I gave up. I found these fabrics at Joann's. The purple slinky material was $4 a yard, so I bought 4 yards! I've got enough to make several pairs of pajama pants. Yay! Anyway, this is my baby's fairy costume sans wings. I used an old pattern I found in my stash for the jumper. The pants were just kind of winged and I added the precious blue lace ruffles. I got the ruffles on a roll at Joann's for $1.99. The bow buttons are vintage from an antique store right by my apartment. The tutu is made from elastic, fabric and pink, purple and green netting. I added a little butterfly pendant that is her great grandmother's for fun. Smiley I LOVE it! She looks precious. Smiley It still needs plenty of taking up because I wasn't sure how much she would grow in-between when I made it and Halloween.

Homespun gifts for your friends and family!
Will be posting more items soon. Check back!

It's a moat.  Filled with badgers.

Here are pictures of my daughter's costumes.  Midori is a witch, I used Simplicity's 3853 pattern and left the sleeves open instead of gathered.  Add a witch hat and patent leather boots and we're good to go.

Hazel is Princess Fiona and rather than buying the pattern I modified Simplicity's 4949 pattern for Aurora and took out the peplum and collar.  The dress originally is off the shoulder with spaghetti straps and my 3 year old wouldn't have it.  So I had to do some extra mods and pull the sleeves up.
The green is a satin material that I probably won't be using again; one of the seams has already ripped out because I didn't line or interface, oh well.

The most precious thing one can make is a friend.

Here is the oogie boogie costume I made for my spoiled friend. It's mostly made of burlap. I stuffed it using polyester fill and lined it with muslin and then hand sewed the front and back together with twine.

Here's a close-up of the bug detail I added to the side.
