popup browser for uploading photos

I'm probably the only person who has this issue, but the browser popup that shows up when you try to upload photos makes me crazy. There is the "browse" button right next to the text box that also pulls up the popup, but if I just click in the text box for the file directory, it also pulls up the popup and then won't let me type in the box.  This happens in both Firefox and Camino, so I am guessing that it is in the site coding and not the browser.

It is often much easier for me to just copy or type in the location and filename into the text box, rather than searching through my giant directory of 1000s of pictures to find the ones that I want.  I'd love it if the popup would be disabled for the text box, since it can just as easily be reached by clicking the "browse" button.
