So my husband is out to sea right now and my brother in law graciously offered to mow our yard. I was so so thankful so I made him an apple pie because he loves pie. Here is how it turned out- it is huge!
Pre top crust- there are over 4 pounds of apples!

With the top crust before baking-
After baking-
Is it wrong that now I don't want to give it to him? The house smells so good!

holy mahone! that looks yummy!!! I recently made an apple 'pie' but didn't put on a full top crust. I rolled out the amoutn of dough for 2 crusts but made it bigger and only one then just folded the sides up and over so the apples were sticking up in the middle. I want to make a traditional apple pie now but my kiddo's ate the apples!

Its dotted with butter before baking. Although marshmallows might be fun to try. Smiley

What an incredible pie you made and a wonderful thank you gift for your BIL.  Love that pie dish.  I can't seem to make a good pie crust--roll it out so may I please mow your lawn next time???

Your pie looks Betty Crocker Beautiful! Seriously it is the perfect picture of apple pie in my mind!

So...did you give it to him....or keep it and the guilt to yourself? I like the idea of having him eat it at your house...so you can savor the aroma longer!

Mmmm...pie! Wink

My sister came last night to babysit and she took the pie back to her hubby. Oh well. Maybe I'll just have to make another one. It just looked way too good to not give it another go.

lol I guess that's one of the hardest thing about making the pie... making sure the apples don't get eaten before-hand! Even I can't help having some of the sugary nutmeg cinnamony goodness. Mmm.

Wow. That is definitely the fattest apple pie I've ever seen. I actually had no idea you could squeeze over four pounds off apple into a pie...ideas, ideas. Anyways, as for feeling like you'd want to keep the pie to yourself - I'd say make an extra pie and enjoy!
