i'd been thinking about this shirt for a while, but i just got around to making my trial run--on a fairly beat down and probably spotten tshirt from target, but i think it's got potential.

the trunk has some double-sided interfacing, with a little extra zig-zag for texture--man, that wonder-under jacks your needle.  i guess i should have paid attention when it said not to sew through it!--and the leaves are die-cut and just tacked with a cross in the middle.  i got it wet and put it in the dryer and i'm thinking they'll curl up cute, but they might just curl up ugly...in any case, it's just a trial run.
what do you think?  cute or too much?  i'm pondering a bird or squirrel or gnome addition, but i haven't gotten that far yet...

This looks a lot of fun to make! I may want to try this. Yours came out really good for a trial run too. Great job!

Very cool!
When you wear it do you look down because you think there's "something" on your shirt?  Smiley

I would totally make a skirt with the same/a similar tree applique on it. You could use the idea of taking the little star shapes and making patterns/pictures/etc and make.. say... a poodle skirt, o.0.

Anyhoo, I love the idea. ^^

i think i'm going to maybe paint a branch and use pinks and rose-colored stars to make it like cherry blossoms...less dense, with less obvious tacks in the middles...not sure what color of background shirt i should do, though, so it's still on the drawing board.  Smiley
when i washed it, by the way, they didn't really curl a whole lot--they still look basically the same...no fraying or anything at this point.
