How are the color changes done? Do you have lots and lots of tied in ends on the backside?

there are a good deal of tied in ends but it's b/c the pattern is a modified granny square not b/c of the color changes.  Luckily i've learned that it's a lot easier to make sure that you catch the ends in when you are stitching together than to go back and weave in all the ends when you are done.  As far as the color changes, the color that you are not using is carried on the back side of the work, so you are working over the color not in use (does that make sense?) I really do love all the patterns in the book, leisure arts tends to i think make things more complicated than necessary though, there were def times that i had to put it down in fear of wanting to burn it if i didn't Cheesy (well at least throw it across the room, the bf isn't too keen on when i get to that point and calmly points out that maybe i should come back to it later ... hehe)

Oh, I see! You start at the point of each heart and the corner spaces make the holes... and they're joined rounds, and you carry the unused color under the other one... hmm... hm....
I have a friend who's having a baby sometime in October, and I want to make him a blanket. I should probably just spend the $10 to get the pattern book, but now that you've given me a nice close-up picture of a square, I might give myself a headache trying to figure it out myself.  Wink

I think it's very nice, I like the pattern. I don't think the baby (or the parents) will mind the hearts.
