Hi,

I'm dyeing a pair of jeans this evening using a procion mx dye. Just wondering if anyone knows which cycle I should run when putting the jeans into the washing machine? I know the normal cycle is around 2hours, but my machine has a program set for 30Celsius that takes about 40 minutes - will this do just as well? Is the machine cycle part of the process simply to wash the excess dye and dye-bath-water out of the jeans?

Thanks,

Shelly

I usually wash twice in cold water, the second cycle with detergent and the first without, but this is because you really don't want the excess dye rinsing out with your next load of NON-DYED laundry, especially if I may have underfixed some of the dye.  Even still, sometimes I wash one more time with my "dye" towels before introducing Procion-dyed items to the rest of my laundry.
