I've been coveting this american apparel skirt for aaaages (literally trying it on everytime I've been in the shop). However, I've never been tempted enough to part £20 for something I'll probably only wear once, and that I could probably make myself.

The inspiration:

So, a quick trip to the fabric shop later and I end up with...

It's not a perfect fit, and I doubt whether I'll actually ever wear it, but I'm generally quite pleased.

Any comments/critiques welcome  Smiley

Whoa! Nice!! I like it with that grey color and the necklace. Wonder if a lace top wouldn't look really good too.

I think it is cute--you should wear it!  Is the fabric stretch?  I have seen stretch gold and silver spandex...I would think lame is scratchy and uncomfortable!

It is always nice to make stuff that you know is a fad or that you won't wear a lot instead of spending so much money!  Nice job!

I've been lusting after the same skirt. It didn't even occur to me to just make it, thanks for the idea and awesome job!

Dare you to wear it-and take photos for us to see!
Seriously, as someone of (ehem) a few more years than you, I'd say-wear it while your young enough or you might regret it   Grin
