Some one was talking about hippie clothes for their poppet. Every time that happened I remembered the clothes I wore in the late 60's. Among them some moccasins sorta like this:

First pic most accurate color. Modeled by Our Generation Doll, Target's version of American Girl.

And now for some baby doll clothes I made for the "Spoil My Doll Swap" modeled by my lovely assistant Chantilly Poppet.

The Whole Package:

Flower Dress and Hat:

Sailor Dress and Hat:

The Little Panties:

The Bed/Tote:

The Tote/Bed:

These clothes are obviously way too wide for poppets. Length not so bad. I used commercial patterns for everything except the Tote/Bed, blanket and pillow.

Cute! I love doll clothes. Cheesy

Your bed/tote is such a cool idea. It reminds me of Penelope Peapod dolls' bassinet/purses, which are kind  of expensive. Your looks great too, and was probably a lot less money!

Those little boots are way cute!

Fledgling - thanks. Not familiar with that brand. I was sort of thinking of some my niece had that were bought at a craft fair. JadedJenn has had her doll since she was two and I figured it needed a special place to sleep.

JadedJenn - thanks. They were a lot more work than I expected. They definitely set the mood. I didn't think shoes would stay on little Sara.

spicecarrie - thanks. I love them too. I'd been wanting to make them for a long time. I'm glad they turned out so well. She needs the rest of her hippie outfit now...

robynsteiner - thank you. You are too kind! It was a lot of fun. That reminds me...

Sactownsue, I like the 18" doll hippie boots, but I love the idea of the doll bed/tote. What a good idea for a gift. It would be great for Christmas or charitable giving, so the child isn't just getting a doll, but a bonafide doll accessory (bed) and a place to stash the doll and a couple of outfits as well. This could even be adapted to non-baby dolls or to teddy bears who need a cosy bed.

I like that you used brown fabric for the bed part. It puts me in mind of a baby (or rather, teddy bear) basket carrier I saw in a vintage craft book. They'd used brown corduroy, so it seemed slightly more basket-y or woody, and it looked cute.

Thank you. The hippie boots are so funny. I had a pair of similar moccasins back in the day...

The bed/tote was fun to make. Connecting the basket and top part with the lace too was pretty thick. The brown/tan fabric is pretty course, like home decor, and looks more baskety in person. It was a lot of fun to make all of these items.

How on earth did you make those boots?! They're fabulous! If you have any pointers or a pattern you'd like to share.. send it my way.
