I think this quilt would be good for a beginner to quilting, but not a beginner to sewing. If you've got good experience sewing clothes, I think this quilt is suitable for a beginning quilter. If you have no or little sewing experience I don't recommend it.

Machine piecing curves is a little tricky, but not terribly so...it would likely cause quite a bit of frustration to the beginner I think.

You could also cut the templates out and sew a block or two before investing in the fabric and time. If your test blocks come out well and you've got the hang of it, I would do it...if not, it may be good to start on a quilt with no curves.

I've made this quilt twice as baby gifts... It's easyish... I agree the curves could be frustrating to a new sewer... my advice... pin the ever lovin snot of out them ;-D

Beautiful quilt and I love how you quilted it... I just used straight lines and concentric circles for the dots. I may try it again and use those squiggly lines... looks fun!

Thanks for sharing =D

I love your take on this quilt from The Modern Quilt Workshop.  I just got this book last week and there are so many fun designs in it that I can hardly decide what to start on first.  This turned out really nicely though and I may have to bump it up my list of designs to work on.  Thanks for the inspiration!

Wow!  I really adore this.  I'm in the midst of nesting for baby and modern, clean lines is the "look" we're attempting to achieve in his room.

Very nice job and thanks for sharing tips & info! Smiley
