LOVE the colors! and love the details...the flap closure, the cute pocket in front, the elastic on the top of the opening! You really did a great job!  I have to attempt one of these!

I'm sure your daughter will be so proud to carry this pretty bag!

Thanks for sharing!

FANTASTIC!!!!!!  I'm jealous of your daughter (cause I want a bag like that!) and I'm jealous of you (cause I want to be able to make a bag like that!)!!!!!!!

I'm going to make little backpacks for my nieces and nephew at Christmas and I've bookmarked yours - I think I have to steal your idea of the elastic and the padded straps.

Great job!

This is so adorable! I wish I had someone to make a bag like this for! It looks like you spent a lot of time making it special for your daughter. The piping on the flap and straps is a nice touch, and I love the little bow. I'm sure she will love to carry this to school!

thank you everyone!

she wore it to school today for teh first time, and we have success!!!! it didn't fall off her shoulders ( a fear i had that i didn't sew teh straps on right), she didn't complain about wearing the bookbag, i think she even forgot she was wearing it. and those kangaroo pockets in the front came in really handy, she was carrying her favorite little bear and she kept dropping it, so i put it in the pocket!

way cute..love the colors... I made a backpack without a pattern as well... worked out great ....I did just what my daughter needed toooooo...

and this is exactly why i wanted to make it for her. I bought her 2 bookbags already, one was too small, her folders wouldn't fit, the other one was too big and uncomfortable. making it myself i was ale to make it exactly how i needed it.

Awesome work. I am especially impressed with no pattern to follow. My craftiness has not made the trek into patternless crafting. Beautiful fabrics and an absolutely lovely job.

OMG, that is so cute and pretty.  You did a fabulous job.  Please, please, please can you do a tute for us.   Grin  It's just wonderful.  I love the inside and I bet your lil' one is so proud.  The fabric is beautiful, too.  Did you have to use iron-on interfacing or is the fabric stiff enough.  I made a couple and the fabric I chose just didn't hold up well.  With your permission may I copy the pics and try and figure out how to make one for myself?  I just love it.

Addendum:  I just read in the rules that I shouldn't demand a tute.  I could change or take this out but I really would like to see how you did this.  And maybe other might like that too.  So please don't be offended by my request  I really mean it as a complement. Grin
