I made these for a friends' wedding, as decoration for their wedding pies* (as opposed to cakes...lovely idea, no?) They both love scrabble, and I suggested something small and cute to reflect that.

(ignore the small smudge- I cleaned them up before presentation...)

I rolled the marzipan to about 1/4 inch thickness, then cut out the pieces at about 170% actual size.

I then used a rubber stamp to emboss the 'E's and 'L's onto the pieces. I had originally planned to just stamp the letter on with edible ink/gel food colouring, but abandoned that idea after a few smudged disasters...

After letting them set a bit, I hand 'inked' the embossed letters, using gel colouring in black and a toothpick.

20 pies in all...they were a hit!

*I did not make the pies- they came from a local bakery- Banana cream and Chocolate cream- delicious!)

Absolutely deliciously perfect looking!  I couldnt believe those werent real scrabble tiles in the first picture.  It must have taken forever to apply the black jel.  Great job!

It actually didn't take as long as you'd think...about the length of a movie! Once I had the method down, it went very quickly...
