Can anyone help my left brain function?  I have big dogs and I am trying to make an old sweater into a dog sweater.  I so badly want to dress them up for my Christmas eve party this year.  I found some awesome tacky Christmas sweaters  and I can't figure out which pieces to keep.  I was thinking the collar of the sweater for my dog's head/neck and then cutting the front out, keeping the back?  I will probably hem or serge the edges.   I don't knit and I crochet poorly.  Big dog clothes are expensive and my dogs don't need clothes, I just want to dress them up.  From here the sky is the limit.  Silly I know, but I have completely exhausted the hanky around the neck thing.

Maybe if you cut out the top of the front to put the arms through. And then cut through the middle of the bottom front and sew on buttons so it would be easier to get on and off.

if you go onto ebay, there are a lot of japanese pattern books for dogs that specalize in cutting down human clothes & making them into dog clothes. even though the instructions are in japanese, they have a lot of easy to follow step-by-step pictures. i've made a lot of sweaters & sweat shirts into dog sweaters that way.
