Toddler coat inspired by minkeyfeet

After moving 1500 miles across America, suddenly finding myself head matron of a family of six, and trying to keep tabs on an almost-2-year-old in a house full of grandmas and grandpas, I'm finally back to sewing and posting!

I was very inspired by the coats minkeyfeet made (see here) because they were exactly what I had in mind to make my daughter. But I knew I'd never have a chance at the pattern listed on ebay...not after everyone here knew about it! So I decided to draft a pattern myself. (I know, I know, I'm insane!) It's obviously a bit different, but it came out quite a bit better than I expected!

I used some smokey denim my mom gave me and this horrible cotton print that I couldn't imagine would possibly be good for anything else as the lining. Hubby picked out the buttons (yes, I put the buttonholes too close to the edge...live and learn!) Oh, and DH has also demanded a cloche style hat to go with it...still working on that one!

Amazing!  It is a beautiful coat and you've done so well drafting that yourself.  The gathering on the back is such a nice touch.  Love the lining.
