Felt Cakes!

for all you people who make them into boxes....do you need to line the card? is it strong enough to hold up the box by itself (the card)? do you still sew or do you glue? any other hints and tips?
anyone have any ideas abouti making "candles"?

I sewed the cardboard in between the layers of felt cause I wanted the inside to look nice.  Um, I didn't sew through the cardboard, just right at the edges at the same time as I connected the felt pieces....  I don't know that I can explain it better, and my camera batteries are dead.  But maybe someone else who's made them can explain it better?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this cake! I made one for my best girlfriend and he loved it. We have a running joke and call each other to yell, "WANG!" into the phone and I embroidered an "W" on the front and topped with a felt strawberry. Best craft ever!

Well mine isn't very neat and tidy inside. I just cut out the shape of the inside in manila folder and put it in the bottom half, then I pulled the felt up over the side and hot glued it to the folder, if that makes any sense. It holds itself up quite well.
