Ok, I know I'm going to seem like a total idiot when I ask this- but is there a way to sew a snap on something so you don't see all the thread around it?  Does that make sense?  I'm making some purses and small totes and I wanted to use snap closures but don't want the ugliness to show.

am I making any sense?Huh

Not that I'm aware of. I handsew mine with a thread that most closely matches the fabric.

Apply some fabric glue under it & sew it w/good 3 or 4 thicknesses of clear nylon thread. The glue will keep it secure & the nylon thread will be your added security.

excellent idea about the glue and nylon thread! I'll give that a try!

I have the same feelings when sewing snaps.  I have found that using a gray/silver color thread also helps hide the stitching.

I hate sewing snaps!!!  Have you tried magnetic snaps?  No sewing involved!  That's my solution...
