I made myself a hat - I'll be in Chicago in Sep/Oct and thought I'd make it to keep the chill off my head.
This is a free pattern from Kim - http://www.yarnabuse.com/the-kim-cloche/ and I made this in Patons Smoothie DK - a lovely acrylic with a wonderful sheen.  It took 1 ball and a little more, and 2 days of non-continuous knitting.
Very quick.

I changed the pattern a little.
1.  after the crown, I alternated rows of ktbl and k until the band
2.  did a picot edge for the brim - *yo, k2tog* repeat to the end

It's really cute and easy to do.

The look...

The coy look...

The brim and stitch

I love it, especially the edging.

I love this, and that picot edging is supercute! It really looks good on you, too.

I have some stash yarn that might work for this--I might have to try to get it worked up some weekend soon...
