Hey all,

Direct from the Cross-Hat-ch web site: "The Cross-hat-ch Set is slated to appear in the January 06 edition of Creative Knitting!!"  January 06!!!  That SUCKS.   Angry  Sorry fellow knitters - this KAL is half dead!

Does anyone want to try to figure out a similar pattern style for the hat?  My pattern design skills are non-existent beyond scarves (I'm still quite the noob).

I printed out the pattern before she took it off the website.
Anyone that needs it can pm me, and I'll send it to you via email.

i know this thread is kinda dead (its waaay past scarf season) but i am happily contributing my own pic for review:

the yarn is red heart multi cheap stuff i had laying around.  the color is banana berry, the world's most obnoxious colors all rolled into one.  funnily enough though, it self-striped!

I really like the way yours is turning out!  I love this scarf pattern - it always does fun things with variegated yarns.  Be sure to post a pick of you wearing it with that hat in your photo!  Great colors for a dreary winter day.   Grin

It's that time of year again to begin the scarf knitting!  My friends dad passed away a few weeks ago (after being thrown from a horse) and so obviously she's not been doing too well lately.  We don't live in the same city so I wanted to send her something so she would know that I've been thinking about her.  Today I dropped in the mail this My So Called Scarf, using the ever popular Lion Brand Landscapes yarn.  I used 4 balls and I think it turned out wonderfully.  See for yourself:

I cropped my face out of the last picture because I had this weird expression on my face.  Sorry it looks kind of hokey.

I've had the scarf pattern printed for a while, but haven't actually attempted it yet.  For some reason, I've been starting to think/panic about my Christmas knitting, and was considering using this scarf pattern.  Would this be a good one to use to whip out 4-5 scarves in time for Christmas (keeping in mind that I am not the slowest, but not the fastest knitter, and also need to eat, sleep, knit a bunch of other stuff, etc.) or is it bulky garter stitch scarves for everyone this year?

onemosphere - Great job!  It is beautiful, and I'm sure that your friend will appreciate it very much.

knitchick2 - if you have time to do garter stitch, you have time to do this.  It is slow at first, but once you get a good feel for the stitch pattern (easy), it's as fast as anything else.  If you want to cut some time, you could even go up a needle size.  Have fun!

crabby, thanks for that great news!  Guess I'll start buying yarn.  Can't wait to try this pattern---they're all coming out beautifully!

I've saved this pattern to my favorites....I must make it even though I've made plenty of scarves...too bad I didn't see this in time for the Scarf Swap.  I guess you can never have too many scarves.  Smiley

Update:  The January 2006 issue of Creative Knitting is in stores now, and features a hat, scarf, and wristwarmers in the crosshatch pattern.  Buy now if you love this pattern.

Here is a scarf and hat that I did in Manos del Uruguay as a Christmas present this year.
