While still very much a newbie to my sewing machine, I tried to make some pillows for my parents before departing for college. Although married for almost 3 decades, their tastes in things are quite opposite sometimes, as seen in the style of the following pillows !:D

First - A NBA New York Knicks Pillow!

Please excuse our Ab-Doer  Wink

So the story is I found some fabric with the Knicks logo on sale at Walmart for $2 per yard.

No surprise that it was cheap; the NY Knicks haven't been so hot since the era of the Dream Team XD Although we got a new coach, and even Patrick Ewing's son for one of the new fowards!! WHOO-HOO!!

But alas I digress haha.

Back to the pillow, I sewed this for my dad's birthday (which was yesterday haha), considering he loved the Knicks and the awesome past Center Patrick Ewing (woot #33!). He loved it, and I was sooo glad!

I even put in a zipper in the side so that he can wash it (because knowing my dad, he will spill something on it sooner or later)! It was the first time sewing a zipper in with my machine, and it was relatively easier for me  Smiley

At any rate, the pillow now resides in our basement, where my dad relaxes after work  Grin

Second - Country Gingham Pillows!

Another blue color pillow, but this time for my mom  Smiley I sewed these up for our patio set outside, since the old ones looked...well beat up! These were actually made at the beginning of the summer XD

My mom loves the whole interior decorating of a country classy home, so I picked a cute plaid fabric (also on sale at Walmart!) that reminded me of the wholesome Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz!

The pillow also had straps so they could be tied to the chair.

She loved them, and I was sooo glad!

I added some buttons I covered with matching fabric, too!

I also added some hand sewed ruffles at the edge, which made her even happier!  Grin

Hooray for my happy parents and their presents  Smiley

Comments & criticism as always is appreciated! I hope you enjoy!
