Sorry I dont have any pictures, but for V-day, I made some of my friends my own little message-hearts by going to Micheals and buying little wooden hearts and painting them red, white, and pink. Then, with a sharpie, I wrote short inside jokes or just personal messages instead of just "i love you" or "true love"  THey were a hit!

another good idea  is to paint Altoid tins and fill them with your message-hearts you made.

Tell me what you think!

what a nifty idea!!

dang, wished you coulda posted sooner.  always next year, tho.  another idea is to add a magnet to the back or a little clothes pin--or a clothes pin & a magnet!!!

those little wooden shapes are always tempting me.  i think i'll have to break down & get some now!  i suppose i could use that craft foam, too.  thanks for the idea!!!

That is super-de-cute!
People love personalized gifts, and all the techno-widget molecular camcorder gifts will never change that.

I was feeling nasty around Valentine's, and in our cafeteria someone had set up a craft table (joy!) for the day, complete with funky scissors, metallic pens, netting, rubber stamps (oh gravity, they had it all).  Some girls had found a box of red heart Christmas ornaments on the table, so I grabbed a few, colored them black with permanent marker, and wrote smartass messages on them with silver metallic pen.  There were enough there for all my lunch friends, so each of them got a nasty v-day message.  Example:

Front- "You really piss me off sometimes"

Back- "Stop it."

Even though they were snarky, everyone got a kick out of comparing them.

Thanks for keeping the crafting real on a kudos-to-Hallmark day!

WAC,
I love your black hearts!  I am so going to copy you, and technically I don't even think you would have to wait until Valentines day.  I really like the idea of putting something other than the typical sweet nothings on a heart.  Then again I also love the classic candy heart sayings.
