I've been scared of zippers for a long time. But once I saw this tutorial, I thought maybe, just maybe I could do it. So I did! http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=263673.0 Thanks, Alliemac!

I bought the fabric at Joann. It's the 45" home dec stuff and the lining and handles are black twill. The purse is about 11" wide at the top and about 10" high and 3 1/2" deep. The outer fabric is interfaced with fusible fleece (my fav!) On the inside, I put one big pocket for my cell phone so it is easily accessible. And I also did 3 pen/pencil pockets. The applique is a scrap piece of some basic pink cotton that I also got at Joann on sale for $1.99/yd.

Anyway, I hope you like it! I'm soooo proud. :-D

I'm not sure why it looks so wonky in the pic. It's not.

This is really nice! I love the zip top. I have this same fabric and it is great. What type of interfacing did you use? Your bag looks pretty sturdy. Great job!

Thanks everyone! I took this bag to work today and showed it off!

oneyedsally--I used fusible fleece on the outer part of the bag. It's the Pellon brand and I got it at Joann. I've used fusible fleece before (from Walmart) and this is definitely stiffer than that. But much nicer, too! I didn't use any interfacing on the inside.
