Mods may move this thread to the etsy board under crafty business advice. Have you checked it out? There are many helpful people there.

Mandodeb- I think your shop announcement is good. Your photos seem a bit busy to my eye- I think they need a solid background so your items can really pop.
Have you made a light box yet? I used a tutorial from here: http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-studio.html and I'm still tweaking the results.
You're doing better than I am- I'm still waiting for my first sale!

You ROCK!!!
Thanks so much for this link.  I've been agonizing forever over how to get better photos of my shop merchandise.  I don't know how much I can accomplish with my dinky little 5MP Canon, but we'll see Smiley

In the meantime, if anyone would like to check out my shop and give me some constructive criticism about anything I've done with it, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm thinking about redoing my banner and avatar, any advice on that?

I would appreciate some general store critique.

www.chianne.etsy.com

As well as some help with postage as I'm at a bit of a lost when it comes to postage.

I sell Button Badges in my Etsy store, but the postage to international places (I'm in the UK) is quite pricey considering the cost of the actual item, and I'm worried it puts people off.

To ship via Airmail it costs 1.64, which is roughly around $2.50 and then with envelopes I ship them it takes them up over $3. I can't afford to drop it lower, but I don't want to put buyers off by the price.

Thanks in advance guys.

I've had my shop for a while, and it seems that it's time for another critique.  Anyone want to give me advice on improving my shop?  I want to see if I get different approaches than that from the etsy forums.

Thanks!!

The mod moved my post from crafty business advice to here... so I don't think they'd do the reverse.

Hi everybody,   I just have a quick question about this listing: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=18503806

I'm quite happy with the photos, but I wonder if I should be displaying the earrings in another way as well.  Do they need to be dangling somewhere so those viewing the listing can imagine what they would be like when they're wearing them?   Or do the pics I have convey enough info about the item?

I think a photo of them dangling would be very good.  It's hard to tell what they might look like hanging from an earlobe.

Perhaps  you could hang them on the edge of a teacup or something?

Thanks for the reply!  The teacup idea is a good one.  I tried taking earring photos with a clear glass before... they didn't turn out well, but I think it would work out if I used a plain white teacup.  I'll give that a try as soon as I find one.

Hi. I just re-did my etsy shop.  And I am slowly adding items.
I read that I should use all five picture spaces so next time I get my sisters camera, I will surely take more.  But aside from photos, could you please give me opinions on how it looks?
Also, I am unsure if my personal information is too personal? And if pricing is okay.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to all your opinions and tips.
