T
Hi, I just open
"Patri's Corner" at ETSY and I'm new. What do you think?
www.njn3691.etsy.co m

Really nice, well made items at EXCELLENT prices!   Cheesy  Maybe use the same background in all your photos, people seem to be very picky about pictures.  Good luck!
Thanks! I really appreciate your opinion.

mishimon:  That banner is great, and your beaded cuffs are gorgeous.  Good prices, I think you will do well.   Cheesy

My etsy shop is brand spankin' new. I am very much in need of a critique. Anything is game. I'm especially wondering about product titles. Is it a bad idea to be generic as I have done?

mishimon: Wow, your jewelry is beautiful! Great pics and a super cool banner. I think your prices are right on. I even thought a few of the pairs of earrings could go for higher. (I'm not a jewelry expert though). I'm sorry to say I have not one piece of constructive criticism, only compliments!

Wastenot - I think it looks great! The pics are nice. I am not in the know about pricing for things like that so I can't offer my opinion, but I think the set up and photos look great.

I opened up a shop selling my cross stitch patterns. I hope to make a little money to fund my craft supplies! I know I'm not using all 5 pics in some listings - my question is, since it's just the one pattern should I show 5 different parts of it or will the one pic suffice?
I try to make patterns that my friends have asked for, stuff I like/look for/can't find for myself. My 10 year old daughter suggests some ideas for me, too. I am going to start listing hand embroidery patterns as soon as I figure my software out, and also patterns for my felt toys once I get decent pics for the pdf.

Any ideas for me? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Pricing is always a hard issue to address - something im going through myself.

But one technique is to compare to others in your same field- on and off etsy.

A useful tool to use is Craftweasel's similar item search
http://craftweasel.com/SimilarItemsQuery.do
I'd suggest searching for amigurumi.

A faster way and a way to see a graph is to use the tag finder.
It shows prices- average, mean.
http://craftweasel.com/TagToolQuery.do
again look for amigurumi.

There are many articles on Etsy's Stourque that talk about pricing.
They address issues like the actual costs to you, competitive pricing, how to bundle, the importance of tiered pricing, and more.

also a simple search on etsy for amigurumi will show you the competition and their pricing.
compare materials, techniques and decide if your work is worth the same or more.

your shop compared to http://www.etsy.com/shop/AmigurumiKingdom : your prices are a little too low.

other places to compare to:

Opened my shop last month, no sales, 1 item heart, 13 shop hearts.

I'm currently working on new photos for current items and new items.

I've been adjusting my prices recently- lowering them. as the prices i started with classed my items in the special occasion only category for most people. I hope to make my shop more appealing to all budgets.

I'd like some tips from my fellow etsians/craftsters.

Should I include props in my pictures? what props?
Are my prices reasonable to you?
Should I change my banner?
How can I brand myself?
*note: if you look at the jewelry set's last picture you can see my business card.

Any other helpful suggestions you have.

Also does having a myspace or facebook page actually help YOUR sales?
