My First Knitted Socks--and I LOVE 'Em! :-)

I've knitted many things, but I've always thought that knitting socks was a waste of time.  I figured why put so much effort into knitting something that takes so much abuse (and sweat)?

Well, I've evolved as a knitter, and I am now a certified "sock-aholic"!  And the thing is...I don't want to get better!

Did you use circular needles for those or double pointed? I've been thinking about moving onto socks at some point (I'm just a beginner knitter) but double pointed needles frighten me like no other.

I used dpns!  They seem a little intimidating at first, but you get used to them.  You can also knit socks on two circular needles: this site shows you how http://www.knittinghelp.com/ (they have all kinds of helpful video tutorials).

The pattern I used was one I purchased at my LYS: Adult Socks II: Play on Ribs by Celina Garrels.  I thought it was a good pattern for my first pair of socks.  Since the pattern is ribbed, the socks fit really well!

I love your socks.  I've been wanting to knit some ever since I read the book, A Good Yarn.  I think I'm just nervous about using the dble point needles...You've inspired me to give it a whirl!!!!!

I love your first socks!!!  I have my second sock class on Saturday and will be learning the heel part!!!  Yikes~
