Canadian Thanksgiving Wedding (lots of pics) - Fall Wedding Ideas

With five weeks to go until the wedding and the prospect of moving to Ottawa at any point this week as soon as I get hired, I spent the entire weekend with a glue gun in my hand.  I love my glue gun.

Here's what I got done and what I have to do still:

Flower girl baskets (foam pumpkins with pearl handles) (idea from another craftster)
Bridesmaid and Flower Girls hair picks
Pew decorations
Box for envelopes at the reception
Peach jam for guests
Menu/Program

Pew Bows
I made 12 of these, 10 for the first five pews and 2 for the back pews which people will see when they enter the church.  They were a much bigger pain than I ever expected.


Flower Girl Barrettes and Hairbands
One girl loves hairbands the other doesn't like anything in her hair.  We'll see what happens the day of.



Flower girl baskets
I got this idea from another craftster who made one as a part of her daughters Cinderella costume at halloween.  I used foam pumpkins from Michael's and faux pearls.  I ran out of brown so I used some ivory ones for where their hand will be.  I only used fishing line to string them though and I'm worried about the weight.  I'm probably going to restring them with tigertail if I have the time, if not I'll add a second handle of ivory ribbon to better distribute the weight.  They will have yellow, orange and rusty coloured roses in them for the wedding.


Gift Box
Years ago my mother bought a do-it-yourself kit to make hat boxes.  The result is a replica of my wedding cake!  I'm really happy with how it turned out.  Yay for spray glue and a glue gun!




Jam
My mother made 120 jars of peach jam to give to your guests.  I wanted to put ribbon around the lid but couldn't find the right size.  We found decorative brads for scrap booking that we pulled apart and glued on to cover the seam.  Unfortunately they ran out of the silver ones so we had to get the leaf ones.  I don't love them but they look alright.

Last Boxing Day I was at Pottery Barn and they were getting rid of all their fall stuff.  I found the wheat and whole bunch of leaf garlands pretty cheap so I bought them all knowing I would do something with them for the wedding.

Yeah I like the colors too. Are your colors just orange/brown? I thought the color of your cutting mat was one of your colors (didn't realize what it was right away) and I was like hmmm i like that! lol I am trying to pick colors for my fall wedding

You could totally do half-cups instead of half-pints. The 4 ounce jars are super cute. You'll probably average 14 to a batch of jam [varies on jam recipe yield, obviously].
