Trashy goodwill skirt + office junk =

I know I used some kind of tutorial I found on here ages ago about stitch binding books, maybe I will go and try to find it an link it once I post.

I found a skirt at goodwill for 5 dollars with this material. It's a plasticky kind of pleather with the studs in it. It was actually a guess skirt, which surprised me because I always thought they were like trying to be kind of, I don't know, classier than that. When I brought it to the counter the lady said "good find" and I wondered if she noticed the fact that this was a size 4 skirt and Im..well...not so much. When I told her it was going to be a book she kind of sneered. Sorry lady.

The cardboard I used for the cover just came from some office boxes. I work in a dental lab and they use this stuff to make the base of the crowns, and it's fragile so it comes in all kinds of packaging...includi ng nice already cut out square pieces of cardboard. Drool

The paper isn't just printer paper, but it isn't quite card stock. I want to say it's more like resume paper...but it was legal size and a long time ago I took it to office max or something and had them cut it down in different sizes. For this size I had them cut like 3 off long ways and folded rest in half "hamburger" style.

This could go in stitch and botch as well...while hot gluing the pleather down I managed to give myself one hell of a blister

thats really nice, I personally hate hot glue because I am accident prone, carpet tapes my choice super strong and sitcks on both sides.

Holy cow, that is amazing. You rock. Goodwill people don't sound like they have much imagination. It's a Craftster thing-they wouldn't understand.

Haha that thing about the lady at Goodwill - I always get very strange looks at check-out there. I think they always wonder why I'm buying such an odd mix of everything from mens shirts to old lady nightgowns to prom-like dresses, in so many different sizes.

I'll add to the votes for double-stick tape.  I very seldom use anything else.

As for Goodwill.... yea, it was a "great find" and you made it even better!  And how sad is it that someone with such easy access to all that Goodwill stuff can't see the possibilities?!?
