Hi!
Any tips for making a party hat for baby's FIRST birthday?
It's a girl and I want to make it frilly and pink and stuff... Grin
These are similar to what I had in mind:

I like the cone ones and the princess crown ones I can't decide.
Thanks!!!

ok, I think I'm going with the typical "cone" hat style.  I've cut out the pattern from a pink file folder at work.  I'm going to put felt on the inside, maribou feathers around the outside edge and top.  Ribbons to tie on with instead of elastic.  I'll post a pic when I'm done.   Do you think that if I modge podge the felt to the posterboard it will deform when I bend it into a cone?

hey I made this a long time ago, but I'm going to post the follow up pics anyway:

I made it with materials that I already had.  I made a basic cone out of a file folder (pink) and covered it in blue felt.  I added wired string of beads loosely around the cone and topped off with pink maribou feather trim and a ribbon tie closure.  It was sooooo cute (if I do say so myself).  Too bad she wouldn't wear it long enough to take a decent picture.

fyi - I made the cake too  Grin  hehe, 6" round 3-layer cake with pink and yellow icing...awww.....

Cute! The cake already looks well-appreciated in that picture. Smiley
