I think I'm addicted to making these giant hama (perler) bead characters! This time I've done Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. She seems to have taken ages to make (probably about a week) but it didn't help that I ran out of beads twice and had to wait for more to come before I could continue!
Anyway, here she is -

Slightly bigger version here - http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k33/chicklitwritergirl/craftster/013.jpg

She's nearly 40 inches tall - the biggest I've done so far - and is currently up on our living room wall!

EDIT: Here are the other ones I've done - http://www.flickr.com/photos/24001167@N04/

I use the large connectable square boards - they're 29x29 beads big and clip together so you can use as many as you need. I did her in two halves, each half needed 12 boards.

This is fantastic!  I loved your Betty Boop one. I have a question though, do you buy your beads by color or do you have to buy them in full rainbow packs?  I've been trying to find a place where I could buy separate colors, I'm always running low on white and black.

WOW, she's jumbo Tinkerbell!!! I was wondering the same thing, I am always running out of black too! I'm guessing you order them from the Perler bead website? Great job by the way, she looks awesome Cool

She's totally awesome!

I found a website that you can get seperate colors of perler beads.  www.PerlerBeadStore .com

Plus you can get an instant coupon.

I think I might have a new craft to learn. Cheesy

To answer your questions, yes, I do buy all my beads in seperate colours - they come in bags of 1000. I'm in the UK and I've yet to find an actual shop that sells them, but I get them from Ebay. There are a couple of sellers who sell any 5 bags for 5, otherwise they end up about 2 each. I also have a huge tub that I bought when I first got into hama beads, so I can dig into that if I run out of certain colours!

Anyway, thank you so much to everyone for all the lovely comments! I'm really glad people like her!  Grin
