I'm not sure where you could find a pattern for it, but I just wanted to let you know that it would most likely be suitable for that occasion.  I went on a cruise and I wore my graduation dress, which was in a very similar style, to one of the formal dinner nights.  Of course, that said, as with any formal occasion, you will have people who go completely all out for it, and others who take a more semi-formal approach.  Good luck and I hope you have a good time!

I go on cruises all the time.  Like a couple every year, at least.  The formal night on most ships have gotten less and less formal as the years have gone on.  The first one I went on, I wore a huge really nice prom dress and was right along with everybody else.  This year I wore a plain black just everyday dress, like "a little black dress" and I was almost over dressed compared to everybody else.  So I wouldn't get all too dressy.  Especially depending on the cruise line.  And the price.  If you are going on a cheaper cruise, most people won't be dressed up.  The more expensive the cruise the better dressed people normally are.  Also, just make sure the people you are going with are equally dressed to whatever you are wearing...  because if they are just in like khakis and you are wearing some crazy nice dress, you might look like a doof.  So check with them first... but honestly, I would stick with like cocktail dresses.
