The photograph does not really pick up the grommets, but here is my new purse and the design that inspired it.  I added a zippered closure instead of a magnetic snap in the original version.  I also embellished the top border with a greek key decorative stitch in gold metallic thread, not really visible in the photo.  There are 16 brass grommets that also are not visible.  My straps are much longer than the original too because I wanted a crossbody purse.

I'd really love to see a higher-quality set of photos! I almost can't tell what's going on in these.

Also, I'd love to make a few purses like this. Any tips?

You're right of course.  I realized it as soon as I uploaded...Does this help?

It took a lot of work; there are 16 grommets, not to mention the zippers LOL
I worked on it for so long, by the time I finished, even though it is a pretty close approximation of the original (Dooney & Bourke Chiara), I now think I hate it.  Shocked

I love it, Smiley plus is that Ikea fabric you`ve used for the lining ? cos it looks like it, i`ve lined a messenger bag in exactly the same fabric.

You have inspired me now to make my own bag with corduroy. It's hard, though, because this is really thin repurposed corduroy from a skirt, and it just wants to go everywhere but where I put it!
