I think I have become addicted to quilting.

I started this quilt back in June and finally finished the backing and quilting it this past week.  It reminds me of summer with the bright colors and lemons and oranges. Smiley  I used several Moda Fresh Squeezed Charm packs for the front and an assortment of fabrics from Joanne's for the border and the backing.

I have been inspired by so many pieced backs here that I had to try it myself as well.  This was really a lot of fun-laying out the fabric on the floor to see where I wanted it to go and kind of winging it at the same time.  I had to include some of the stars that I made for the friendship star swap too!  I made myself a duplicate of all that I sent.  The bearclaw is a "friendship star gone wrong"-which makes me wonder what that poor star got into last night...

It was also my first try at free motion quilting.  At one point I thought I killed my poor almost vintage Kenmore, but it is back to normal now. Smiley

I haven't mastered the stitch control using my foot pedal and maneuvering the fabric at the same time.  My machine only has 4 stich sizes anyway and that all depends on how fast you are trying to go.  I have a tendency to put the pedal to metal when sewing, but I drive like a "granny" according to my husband.  I find the contrast quite amusing. Smiley

I am usually not a big fan of orange, but your quilt looks fantastic with all of the other colors. I have never done free motion quilting, is it hard to do? It seems like every time I see them doing that on the tv shows they are either using a computerized sewing machine or one of those long arm sewing machines. I was never sure how well it would work on a regular machine.
