i was inspired by the chicken in the Good Eats kitchen. sometimes he pulls an egg out from under it.
this is my first time entering one of the challenges, i hope you all like my entry!
mini tute!this is going to be more like a guideline than a full on tutorial because i just made it up as i went along and didn't write it down.
body: ch 4, join to make circle. 12 sc in circle. for the next round sc in st, 2 sc in next st all the way around. for the round after that sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st all the way around. continue increasing each round until desired width. i think mine went up to sc in next 3 st, 2 sc in next st. next sc in each st around until desired length. you can either just keep going around or join and ch 1 to start each new round. when desired length, start decreasing. for example mine ended on sc in next 3 st, 2 sc in next st, so for my decreases i started with sc in next 3 st, 1 decrease. keep decreasing until the opening is the right size for your eggs. you want it to be big enough to get them in and out, but not so big they just fall out. you really just have to keep checking it against the size of your eggs. finish off.
head: pretty much the same as the body. except you want this to be more round, so don't do as many rounds of 1 sc in each stitch. this one you stuff and then close all the way.
comb: chain until lenth is appropriate for head size. ch 1, turn. depending on the thickness of the yarn you can either sc or slip stitch. mine was pretty thick so i just did slip stitch, but if your yarn is thinner, sc would probably be better. anyway, slip stitch in first 2 st. sc in next 2. alternate slip stitches and dc until you reach the end. depending on which stitch you ended with either ch 3 and turn or ch 1 and turn. then just slip stitch in the slip stitches and dc in the dcs. finish off. sew onto head.
the beak, eyes, wings and tail were all just cut out of felt and sewn on.
