I own a piece of kitchen equipment which I adore. It's a Spong 735/605 "versatile" slicer/mincer/grater. Oh my is it ever versatile alright!!! Circa late 60's early 70s and bought as a present for me by my friend Theresa from a local rummage sale for 20p (about $0.40) it is used on a nearly daily basis for slicing, grating or I add the micer head and mince things. I like mincing things.
I love that originally it was made in the town that I live in, about 15 mins away if I were to take a bus... the Spong factory is now a housing estate. How sad.
Anyway, I thought it would be nice to cozy it up a bit. it always looks so cold sitting there on my kitchen worktop and what better to have than a waving mouse?
My Spong was recently washed so I can't find the handle which was to form the mouse's tail

but here it is in its original glory (the yellow one on the right). My set has an orange nylon head.

And here is my SpongMouse, look! he's waving at you!

he is of crochet construction with British Safety Standard eyes and nose and pipecleaner arms wrapped in the same wool to match his body. I used pipe cleaners because A. I have some pink ones and B. I thought it would be funky to have posable arms.
side (see? he's missing his "tail" *sob)

and finally how he's fitted AND removable (you can also see where the "tail" would be too. dag my losing things!!!)

I@m going back into the kitchen now to stroke him some more. he's so soft.
