my ferrets got their new ferret nation cage months ago and have been happy with piles and piles of bedding crammed in every corner but i haven't been so happy with the bedding situation.. so this weekend my mancreature and i made their first set of bedding for the cage.. next on the list.. -transformers- woot.

the ferrets area of the living room

top two levels for the two kits and sometimes my older male

bottom level for my 10 year old lil girl and sometimes the older male hangs out with her

somehow trying to make floor mats and hammocks and sleeping tubes is the hardest thing i've sewn in forever.
but the cage stays alot cleaner and looks alot tidier...  and cage cleaning can't be all that bad when it involves rubber duckies:>

That is adorable, and seems like a great idea. Very economic for many reasons!

That's fantastic! Also, you may have solved one of my cage-cleaning problems, too!

I have a bunny, whose cage has a non-washable rug on the top level. Seriously--who designs a pet cage with something non-washable??

Seeing this made me go -Duh! I can make my own bedding for that level! With fabric! That I can wash! And she'll probably find it comfier, too!

thank you Cheesy
cookimistress-it's a total time saver as of the last 24 hours. the cage cleaning was 5 minutes instead of 15 or 20 and alot of grossness:>
seraphina_de-sangre- sweet, i'd give you your very own dig box and hammock Wink they are mad right now because i've been cleaning all weekend and the place is a mess and not safe for them to come out. they're claiming neglect and abuse Wink
auroravioletta-uhg poorly designed pet products are a huge uhm pet peeve for me.. i love my critters but don't love cleaning, especially when i'm trying to clean the impossible to clean:/ glad your bunny will have a comfier and made with love rug soon:D

What did you do for the liners? I have two FNs and one CN for my rats and I just wrap the fleece around the trays but they always get it up and I hate it, I couldn't get the binder clips to work well either. I'd love to know how you did the liners.

Your cage looks fantastic! I just love the fabric. I sew liners and hammocks etc. for a Ferret Nation and Critter Nation for my rats, and it does make cleaning so much easier but I agree that it somehow is very difficult to sew! Huh
