August 31, 2008 07:26:48 PM »
PLEASE READ WHOLE POST BEFORE JOINING SWAP
Organizers: TwiztidBlood and Dinosaurus Meg
*IMPORTANT PM INFO*: When sending PMs, please label them as OWS 38 with one of the following tags:

Question
So when sending the questionnaire, the subject will read OWS 38 – Approval. When notifying us about sending and receiving packages, add the corresponding tag. If you just have a general question, label it as that. This will keep things organized for us!
When sending a sent/received PM, please include the 'Send by' date so my craziness will stay at a minimum.

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=6553.0
Please bookmark this thread and/or post here. All updates will be made here and this will help you to keep up with everything.
IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO THE ORGANIZERS VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.
How This Swap Works:
Please READ CAREFULLY! This swap works differently than most!
Try to imagine a chain. The first link is the first person whose wish list is on page 1 (Person A) - that will be the craftster member who was the very last wish list from Ongoing Wish Swap 37.
Now, we want to put another link in the chain. People will read that list and see if there is something they want to/can make from the list.
Someone (Person B) will claim Person A for some item on their wish list. They post a reply to the thread that says “I claim Person A for [item]. This is my X claim (however many times they have picked someone – for example, "this is my fourth wish, with one sent, and three received,” (meaning that this is the fourth claim they've made, one is in transit to it's destination, and three of the items have been received by the people they previously claimed). Also add your location, and any preferences or aversions – “I live in Wisconsin USA, I am a vegetarian, and I am allergic to wool”.
IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU REPLY WITH YOUR STATUS WHEN YOU CLAIM SOMEONE! This means you need to post who you are claiming and for what, how many claims you have made, including how many in transit and how many received, and your location/preferences/aversions.
Then comes the fun part! After the introduction, Person B is the last link in the chain, and they post their wish list!!! YOU CAN HAVE AS MANY ITEMS ON YOUR WISH LIST AS YOU WANT, HOWEVER YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF SIX. THE MORE ITEMS YOU LIST, THE BETTER YOUR CHANCES OF BEING CLAIMED QUICKLY.
(Please have your list ready, this swap moves very quickly! Please include your country at the start of your wish list). Person B will also PM Person A to get her address so they can mail the item when it is finished.
Along comes Person C, who claims Person B for something on their list and the chain is built, link by link. (If Person C wanted to make Person B a purse AND a stuffie, that would still count as ONE WISH.) Then they post their list, and so on.
When you want to make a claim, you can ONLY pick from the very last wish list in the chain. You can't pick anyone else in the chain - you can only connect to the very end of the chain, which is that last wish list posted.
After you have made your claim, you need to PM that person for their address.
Friends of Craftster are allowed 3 wishes at one time, others are allowed 2 wishes. If this is your first swap, you are only allowed one wish until your craft is received for this month. Do not choose over your given limit.
If you already have one claim that will be sent out late, please don't claim again until that one is sent out.
Become a Friend of Craftster! Go here:
http://www.craftster.org/subscribe.php
If you are at your limit of wishes, you can choose again once one of your partners receives, NOT when you send.
***Do not claim someone unless you can fulfill that wish to a high caliber***
Let's keep the quality high here. I don't want to receive PMs with people concerned over the lack of quality of their items. Please, just work your hardest to keep the bar high on the quality of items here! Don't choose just for the sake of choosing; choose to make someone else a really AWESOME wish!
Now if the thread gets in a rut for a few days/hours, the person who made the last wish should add to their list if they can think of anything else, until someone decides to craft for them. Please make sure this is not you!
Unsure of where to find wish ideas? Try the previous ongoing wish swap galleries or any other gallery on craftster. Look through your fellow crafter’s wist lists.
Sending/Communicating/Feedback:
YOU HAVE TWO WEEKS TO GET YOUR ITEM OUT THE DOOR.
IF YOU DO NOT SEND A MEDIUM ITEM YOU WILL BE GETTING NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.
( the medium can be a couple small items etc as long as it adds up to a medium )
( A medium item equals two hours of crafting time or 20$ worth of store bought items )
Please be communicative if you are having any issues. If you communicate you still need to send your item in a timely manner. Communication does not mean you can send as late as you want. After one week past the deadline you will have negative feedback. This is only temporary as it will be changed back once you fulfill your obligation for late item(s). Do not choose to craft an item if you do not think you can meet these deadlines.
THERE WILL BE FEEDBACK FOR THIS SWAP
I will be giving feedback in the following way:
- great swapper: for those who follow all the rules
- good/poor communication: where applicable
- sent late/early: where applicable
- no dc number: failed to comply with the rule about using a delivery confirmation number for packages within your own country
- didn't post pictures: failed to post pictures of what they received without an adequate explanation to their partner
- did not follow item amount rule
Previous Swap Rounds:
If you are confused in any way by how this works, please look at some previous rounds:
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT POSTING PHOTOS IS STILL A REQUIREMENT FOR THIS SWAP. IF YOU CAN'T TAKE PHOTOS, PLEASE MENTION IT TO THE PERSON WHO CLAIMS YOU.
TwiztidBlood - Will be your organizer, in charge of your claims, your sends and your receives, and your approval
Dinosaurus Meg - Will Be in charge of the ows 38 discussion thread. As well as any questions or concerns you have.

Alrighty, Heres the first list up for claims this month.
Quote from: myloveasdeep on August 30, 2008 03:32:41 PM
I claim mimiw for a pincushion!
this is my third claim, 0 sent 0 received
I'm a 24-year-old girl in Colorado. I graduated with my degree in high school English Education, and somehow fell into teaching kindergarten. I like it, but it's not my future. I got married five months ago, and that's a bunch of fun. I have three cats. I love the colors black, white and red. I love circles and spheres. I love odd sea life like squid and puffer fish. I love cryptozoology, especially lake monsters. I love red lipstick. I love dinosaurs, especially the aquatic kind. I love film noir and cult films like RHPS and Phantom of the paradise. I love transvestites. I love Beck.
I don't love blue, purple, orange, patriotic fabric, colored glue or puff paint.
My wishes:
1.My kindergarten room needs spiffing up. I can't afford to spend much of my own money ( I work at a private kindergarten in a daycare, so am not making the normal teacher wages) and the school gives me no budget for new toys. I'm especially craving homemade games that will help the kids learn how to sort, classify, and count for the science center. Alphabet and phonics games would also be awesome. My kids are very varied in their reading levels, from ready-to-read to can't-tell-a-number-from-a-letter. Examples
http://www.kindergarten-lessons.com/kindergarten-science-center.html
http://www.kellyskindergarten.com/science/science_center_activities.htm
Along those lines, tubes of rubber insects and reptiles, animals etc. would be great, and any sort of collection you can make of nature items from your area that won't decompose too quickly--bug-catching equipment, seeds and pots to grow plants, anything at all that they can stare at and be fascinated by (and you wouldn't believe how easily they are fascinated, unless I worked really hard on it, of course.) A snake skin would be ace.
2.I love homemade soap and bath bombs. Any kind of bath thing at all, but not the kind made from a kit or melt-and-pour. My skin can deal with real ingredients, but doesn't like artificial chemicals much. Lavender, basil, sage, rosemary, peppermint, pine—all lovely.
3.Laminated or contact-paper-covered children's poems with a picture on them for my Poem Tree.4 by 6 index cards would be a good size, and the funnier the better.
4.A Totoro doll. A Big one, like at least 20” tall, for me to squeeze. Preferably the white one.
5.A Giant Squid or Yeti doll. See number 4.
6.A Cat window seat for fat cats. I have many: they are corpulent.
7.Badly translated japanese kawaii items such as:
http://www.shopkawaii.com/Q-Lia-Orange-Squirrel-B5-Notebook-p/q-11045.htm
8.This bird swing thing:
http://wists.com/myloveasdeep/0e4d7dc53f13d8ce91d8f833b166fcd5?offset=40
(in black, white and red would be even better)
9.Pretty much anything with a black and white damask pattern.
10.Wall decals. A chandelier one would kick arse. Black, of course.
11.A t-shirt that says “Screw World Peace, I Want a Pony” and has a pony on it. Girly shirt size large.
12.Can anyone make stamps? Eraser, rubber or similar? I have designs, very simple, I'd love to have stamps of, but I'll never get to learning how. Here is an early drawing I did with the little guy in it that I'd like a stamp of (I have better images if you pick this):
http://giraffemilkshake.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/monster.jpg
13.I collect old deer figurines if you happen to have any. The bigger the eyes, the better I like them. An embroidery or paper cut of a kitschy deer would be nice too. This is cute:
http://wists.com/myloveasdeep/2c67bce6150c158fe61d13d2762cb988?offset=160
14.Stamp ink pads!
15.A big old white one of these paper stars:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=83862.0
16.A glorious garter belt like this:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=128027.0
17.A really simple corset that ends under the bust. Just like a rectangle that laces up, no major boning involved. Pm me for sizes.
18.A super-kitschy pink poodle tissue or tp cozy.
19.This dress:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=254265.0
20. t-shirts with any of these stencils: Katharine Hepburn, Beck, a squid, a yeti, a furry monster or dinosaur saying "rawr".
21. A leather or vinyl notebook cover for my husband.
22. Old pen and ink type drawings of sea monsters or any other animal, really. Example:
http://ian-albert.com/misc/bigimages/gutierrez/sea-monster2-150dpi.jpg
23. Empty shadowboxes for me to put things in--made of cardboard is fine.
24. Coral. Real, resin, plastic, anything. White. Not crocheted, though, please--it would gather too much dust.
25. Such a beautiful mobile:
http://flickr.com/photos/kitchentablemama/2335707986/in/pool-632453@N23
26. Cuttings of your house plants! I love, love plants and had to leave my collection behind in NY when I moved to Colorado. It's so bloody dry here that only the strong survive, so especially succulent/cacti type plants...I really miss my jade plant especially. You can wrap the roots/root buds in a wet paper towel, put the whole thing in a ziploc bag and mail it, as long as you're not too far away. I'm building terrariums, too, so small plants would be nice. I already have a spider plant and a philodendron.
27. These type pillows, except not pillows--framed in black frames. A typewriter font S and C.

I claim myloveasdeep for a super-kitschy pink poodle tissue or tp cozy
This is my first claim, 0 sent, 0 received
Hi there! I'm MandyLikesPie. I'm 26 and I live in Illinois with my hubby and our cat and bunny. We just bought our first house a few months ago and are starting to paint and decorate and basically undo all the 80s-ness from the previous owners. My kitchen is bright yellow with red and green accents, and my bathroom is peach with green accents. The living room will be brown with sky blue accents, and the bedroom will be slate blue with black and white accents. You'll notice that most of my items include the words "vintage" or "50s." I love anything vintage or vintage-inspired and, even though I work full-time as an editor, I like to pretend I'm a 50s housewife at the end of the day. I love old-fashioned prints like gingham and polkadots, and trims like rickrack and pom poms. My Craftster profile is full of likes and dislikes, so hopefully that will be helpful.
Crafts:
--
Big wish:
Christmas tree ornaments! I’m working on covering my tree with vintage- and retro-looking handmade ornaments this year. My two main color schemes are (1) red, white, green and (2) blue, white, silver. I love birds, snowflakes, holly berries, icicles, elves, reindeer, cute Christmassy prints, anything! The ornaments can be made from any type of medium. Yarn, fabric paper, poly clay--doesn’t matter.
--Throw pillows in sky blue and chocolate brown (I can stuff if needed!)
--A snuggly fleece throw
--Vintage-inspired earrings (I like silver, black, or white the best)
--Cameo or old-timey-looking brooch
--A tree of life pendant from phoenixfiredesigns
--Lightweight knit or sewn scarf in green, blue, or brown
--Chunky knitted, sewn, or felted mittens in green, blue, or brown
--Homemade sugar scrub, soap, lip balm, or lotion
--Roll-on or spray-on fragrance (I like lily, jasmine, citrus, rose, baked good, coffee, and fresh linen scents)
Supplies:
--Vintage or vintage reproduction fabric (large piece or scrap--I’ll be happy with either!)
--Amy Butler (particularly from the Nigella line), Michael Miller, or Alexander Henry fabric (large piece or scrap--I’ll be happy with either!)
--Vintage or reproduction buttons
--Rickrack or pom pom trims
--Sublime Stitching patterns (I have veggies, flowers, Kurt Halsey, mod alphabet, country cool, under the sea, and sexy librarians. I really like the cooking- and craft-themed patterns)
--Embroidery transfer pen
--Pinking shears (used is just dandy)
Extras:
--40s-50s cookbooks
--40s-50s women's magazines
--Vintage salt and pepper shakers
--Travel postcards from the 40s-50s
Thanks so much to whoever claims me!

I claim mandylikespie for vintage buttons, ric rac plus some vintage surprises. This is my first claim.
ABOUT ME
I live in Australia and love doing swaps. I am mainly a feltmaker and needlefelter, and occasionally make my own paper and cards. I have just discovered print gocco and am trying to convince myself not to buy one. I haven't done any craft for about a year as I moved house and started working outside the home, but am currently setting up my craft room so I can get back into it.
I love berry shades, dark reds, muted pinks and most greens. I also like beige & white. Don't really like neons, black, yellow, orange, or blue. Please see my profile and wists for more info and feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
I wish for.....
CRAFTED ITEMS
Knitted socks
I would love a pair of pure wool hand knitted socks in any of the berry shades. I'm not really into stripes but a variegated yarn would be nice. Pm me for shoe size
Crocheted Cotton Flowers
I'm collecting crocheted flowers made with cotton yarn in all colours except black and brown. I would particularly like shades of pink, purple, red, plum, grape. If they've got leaves that's even better.
Earrings
- made from cotton crocheted flowers in chocolate brown, plum, purple or rose pink
- made from vintage cabs in shades of dark brown, dark pink, red or purple. See my wists
http://www.wists.com/enchanted_wool
for some ideas
Please use silver findings as my ears are allergic to nickel.
Beeswax Candles
particularly tea lights but any type is great. I prefer undyed ones.
Knitted wash clothes or hand towels
in either burgundy/deep red OR beige/sand. If the beigey ones are made with organic yarn that's even better!
Organic soap
CRAFT SUPPLIES
Scrapbooking supplies
- scrapbook glue, scrapbook tape, scrap dots etc
- a 12" paper cutter
I have lots of paper & stickers so don't need any more
Other Supplies
- a clover needle felting mat
- A rotary cutter
- vintage cabs & buttons in flower shapes
- large buttons made from shell
- silver earring findings - eye pins and medium size jump rings (need to be silver as my ears are allergic to nickel)
- Japanese felting books/magazines
- A felt tipped calligraphy pen in burgundy or purple
- angelina/firestar fibre in any colours except neon yellow & green
- print gocco supplies
EXTRAS
- plain dark green kitchen/tea towels (can't seem to find these anywhere in Australia)
- a set of china cabbage-shaped salt and pepper shakers (or any other green cabbage china)
Thanks so much to anyone who chooses me.
