FINISHED!

My cousin LOVES Paul Frank and collected his t-shirts throughout the years.  She had to move and decided to donate them to the local Goodwill.  I asked her if I could have them to do something with.  She agreed and I made this for her as a surprise.

It didn't take too long to make, the most tedious part was the ironing on the interfacing.  I read somewhere on craftster that it is best to do a light weight interfacing due to the stretchy-ness of the t-shirt material.  It really helped when cutting out the squares.

Each square is 9x9, one from the front design and one from the back of the shirt.  15 shirts total.  On 3 of the shirts the design was on the sleeve so I had to open up the seam in the long sleeve part of the shirt and take the design from there.  Those are the squares with Paul Frank wrote in them.

I backed it with a green super soft cotton, and tacked each corner with a brightly colored button (no picture, my camera was broken during the finishing and giving process).  You can see the kelly green fabric in the background along with bridal shower presents Smiley  I will attempt to get a picture from her to post because I LOVE the way the buttons turned out.

Here's a close up on my favorite square... Mr. T Julius Monkey

What do you think?  I will post a picture of the completed quilt ASAP  Grin

She did love it!  She was the Maid of Honor in my wedding and I gave it to her the 2 nights before.  I think she really likes it.  It is a good size, perfect for napping on the couch Wink

I have completed photos!  I just love how it turned out and have already gotten a bag of t-shirts from another friend for her quilt!  Haha!  I am hoping to complete it before Christmas...

I just love those buttons!  Sorry about the wrinkles but she had already started using it, which makes me feel great!  I love to see presents in use.

That's awesome! I have a bunch of t-shirts I cut up to make a quilt (7 years ago) and I think that you've inspired me actually finish it

I usually am not a big fan of t-shirt quilts but yours has changed my mind.  The colors work great together, the buttons fit the feel of the images, and it looks great.  Thanks for sharing it.
