I can feel fall coming around the corner. My creative juices got flowing, my sewing machine got buzzing and I created some more wearable art! With fall around the corner I pulled out my yellow, orange, and green fabrics and started to cut. Then before I knew it I had all the making for a patchwork strip skirt but not just any patchwork strip skirt. I went with the 1800s bagger's quilting patchwork, which rules state that a fabric can only be used once. Meaning that you have to beg fabric scraps from friends and relatives to complete your project. Well, I did some begging and ended up with a wonderful fall creation.

The skirt is made up of 5 inch strips, alternating colors starting with green, then yellow, and ending with orange before restarting with green again. The top of the strips were cut down to 1.5 inches and then slowly angled out to the 5 inches by about 13 inches down the strip.

The spin is a huge 336 inches...WOW!!

ok - some pics

and laid flat so you can all the different fabrics...

Okay, first of all - that first pic is amazing!  It's hard to get a clear shot of movement, but you did - awesome!

the colors of your fabric are awesome, and the fact that each fabric was only used once is a testament to your patience! G R E A T J O B!!!

I really, really love this skirt!  The color choices are great, and it's awesome that you got all the scraps from friends.  It looks so fun to wear!

You are so damned creative with all these skirts... I wish I had your patience (I feel like I tell everyone that... I must have no patience!).  Beautiful, as always.  Wink

This is a lovely skirt. Mind if I ask a stupid question? How have you done the waist band? It must be a rather heavy skirt with all those hems.
