I made this for my 20 year old son who travels overseas with YWAM a lot.  He wanted a padded bag to protect his laptop that did not have an adjustable strap.  This strap is designed to have the pinch-release part on his chest, so that when he is getting in buses or on planes, he just reaches to his chest and pinches, rather than lifting it up over his head.  There are two pockets under the top flap for passport and camera (this one is double padded), and two pockets inside for a book and his Bible.  Plenty of room for his laptop as well as a few other things.  This is made out of a lighter-weight mens' suiting with a heavier lining (gabardine) and interfaced or padded with iron-on.  Zip top closure.

This looks GREAT!  I am having a hard time finding a good bag for my smaller 14 inch laptop, everything is too large....Did you use a store-bought pattern or make your own?  I would love to make my own, if you have any information on the pattern for this Smiley

Because this bag had a gusset, we just laid the laptop down and added 1", plus the seam allowance.  Personally, if it were for me, I would have had the bag hanging the other way, short side up, but he wanted it shorter and fatter.  I just cut out a back, a front and a top flap of the size I needed.  I made the flap separately, so it would have a nice fold-over part.  Since the flap is actually the same size as the front and back, it ends up shorter on the outside, which is again, what he wanted. Hope this helps.

OK, great!  Thanks a lot, sounds simple enough for me to follow along and make my own based on my own unit Smiley
