I love www.knitty.com  They have the best patterns and it's all free!!
I bought some yarn last night to make this poncho: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall03/PATTponcho.html  It was design by the girl that created not martha. (http://megan.scatterbrain.org/notmartha/)  Which is an amazing blog with alot of DIY crafty goodness. Check it out.

Did you find the pattern tedious? It was all in garter stich right? I am dying for a poncho, but I'm not sure about the pattern, but I have been thinking that a lot of other's I've seen look too old lady-ish....

btw.. I love knitty too!  Smiley

It wasn't that bad because it went fast on the big needles.  But mine came out lopsided. LOOK:
Maybe it's because I have broad shoulders.  But mine has the right dimensions, 24x30.  I left a comment on Megan's website but I haven't gotten a reply.
Any idea what went wrong?? Huh

i'm making the poncho too - and it is totally tedious but at least i can do it mindlessly while i'm watching TV -
creatingme, did you sew up the right sides?  i know the thing is supposed to be folded down the middle -
i think it looks really good anyway.  cheers

Yeah I folded it in halfand sewed it up, just like the picture in the instructions.  I think I'm going to add a different color to the side that is too short.  I still like it. Wink

I don't think it looks that lopsided... It does look cute. I guess I should finish the shawl I'm working on first!!!

I've decided that everyone on my xmas list this year is getting a pair of Broad Street Mittens from Knitty.com. I think they look great, can be personalized, and are insanely practical!

I'm pretty enough for both of us.

I did this knitted poncho too and it came out the same way so I don't think it is just you or me.  I ended up catching stiches on the short side and adding a 3rd matching color to even it out.  Kinda made it lokk like I meant it to be that way.  Worked pretty well but if it hadn't I thought I could hide the conection point with a ribbon sewn over top or some thick yarn stiched into the seam.   Smiley

(okay so half my post was deleted, oops!)

Thank you both for revealing this problem with the poncho. I was planning on beginning this project soon and know that if I had gone ahead and it ended up lopsided I would have been devestated in the end since this was going to be my first big project (even if its just garter stitch)....

It looks like if the lighter red wasnt there to begin with, it would eliminate the lopsidedness. I really like the two colors in the pattern and the arrangement of them (instead of adding on the lighter color to even it out so it looks like a V), so hopefully I will be able to figure out what went wrong.

Thank you both.

Megan, the creator of the pattern, said that I should have just made it longer.  It's at the back of my closet now, maybe sometime in the future I will work on it.
