Details of swap: It's a tough time of year to be a grad student! The fall semester is gearing up, and we’re looking at another four months of teaching and grading papers; writing papers and grant proposals; and worrying about finishing that big thesis or dissertation! In this swap, we’ll be crafting to help provide some mutual support, that extra push to motivate us through the semester.
This as a low-stress swap:
1 medium and 2 small items . The medium item and one of your small items should be crafted, but one small item can be purchased or thrifted if you and your partner agree. Either way, since money is tight for all of us, we should rely as much as possible on our stashes, thrift, and other non-traditional sources of supplies!
According to Craftster, medium and small items are equivalent to the following:
MEDIUM = 2 to 3 hours, $10-$30 (a set of notecards, a scarf, a simple bag)
SMALL = less than 2 hours, less than $10 (earrings, a wallet, a bookmark)
These size guidelines are very subjective, so, as always, work with your partner to decide how much to send. Be sure to agree on the amount of time, money, and effort you want to spend for this swap.
Below are some thoughts for grad-school related items. As ideas are mentioned in this thread, I’ll update the list.
tote bag for lugging books to the library
pencil case for getting organized
lunch bag for remembering to eat
insulated mitts for microwaving meals
