Craftster Chat: I Has It

Hey, everyone! I was reading some of the suggestion boards and got it into my head that we need a live chat of some sort.

So, being the diy type, I did it myself! There is now an unofficial craftster IRC channel! It is located on the irc.aniverse.com server, and the channel is #craftster

If you need IRC help, try this site. If you have other questions, feel free to PM me.

Mods, if you think this should become an official thing, I'd be more than happy to turn it over to someone who knows a bit more about running something like this (I just know how to create a channel and how to change the topic, lol!)

EDIT: Getting to the channel

To use IRC, you first need to download a program that will connect you to a server. Some of these programs are:

• For Windows, mIRC and HydraIRC are good choices.
• For Apple, Colloquy and IRCle are recommended.
• For Windows, Apple, or Linux, xChat is a good choice.

After you get the program (called a Client), you need to connect to a server. The server you want to connect to is irc.aniverse.com and *most* clients should pop up a box when opened, asking for the server and your nickname. The nickname doesn't need any registration (although registration is possible). For username (if it asks for one), put in anything you want.

Once you've connected to the server, you'll be able to connect to any channel on that server that you want. Our channel is #craftster. Some clients have a button you can click, and then simply type in the channel name. If you don't see this, just type in the server window /join #craftster and click send.

You should be there at this point! If you're not, please PM me or google "IRC basics" for some help!

It took me awhile to figure it out, but I finally got it.

We've had alot of visitors already in just a few days...but everyone, please, keep stopping by! Also, if you want to or if you can, please feel free to stay logged into the channel permanently (ie don't close it when you're not using it). The more people are signed in to it, the more people will get there and think "oh, this is popular, i should totally tell everyone else!"

Oh, I'd love to join the chat but this is way over my head I'm afraid.  They just don't make the dummy books dummy enough for me.  The instructions are just too Greek for me. I'll just hope that it gets easier to fix it up as more people join.
