Here is the Emperor Penguin:

I made him out of Lion Brand Microspun. He's a Christmas gift for my nephew- I gave him a list of all the animals in the book, and he picked a penguin. It was a very fun knit!

Your nephew will love it!  Great job.  I really need to learn how to knit!

Sometimes it's knit and sometimes it's crochet.

Wow! That Emperor Penguin is awesome. I am impressed with all of the finished projects that everyone is posting. I've been debating about whether or not I would actually make anything from this book but after seeing everyone's toys... I want to try some, too.

I am so happy to see a penguin out of the micro spun. I'm making one for a swap angel package and I decided to try it with micro spun because it was the only orange I could find. He looks great. I'm really impressed.

Thanks you guys!  Wink

I really liked the microspun. It was the only bright colored sport weight I could find at Michael's. I was a bit nervous about it b/c I've read so many posts about it being "splitty" and a pain to work with. I didn't think that at all. I loved knitting with it.

I used microspun before and I never had problems with it spliting. I didn't find any in brown for his feet and beak so I think I'm going to see if I have a little brown wool in my stash somewhere.

My brown is not microspun either. I think it's Katia Diana. There is a microspun "mocha" that I looked at, but it's a very light peachy-tan. I don't know why they call it that.

Hey Bethann, or anyone else. I think it may have been asked, but I don't think I read any answers on here. Any tips on seeming these guys? I'm sewing the adult penguin back to his belly and it looks crap-tacular. I can't seem to get it to look ok.  Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.
