A few months ago I was asked to make an 80th birthday cake for a woman who had always loved to sew. So we decided she needed a button cake. Here's the end result.

I cut out every button and pressed each button by hand and punched every hole. There were four colours and two sizes. The buttons alone took me a whole day.

And the pin cushion topper was totally a last minute thing. I added it literally seconds before they came to take the cake away. I could have just left it off but the cake seemed so unfinished without it and it really added something to the cake.

Anyway, I thought the craftster folks would appreciate it.

Wow, that's a really cool idea. Do you watch Ace of Cakes? It looks like something they'd do.

Wow, thanks guys!  Grin
No I don't think that's bad at all. Honestly I think if you added another layer and maybe a few different kinds of buttons it would be a kick ass cake.
I LOVE Ace of Cakes. I swoon over Duff every time it's on. He's actually the reason I started doing cakes like this.
