So, I made this for an online friend who is having her first baby. She isn't finding out the gender of the babe (until birth that is) and is decorating in a gender neutral style. I was inspired by a blanket on her registry at Babies-R-Us for the colors and the applique. My friend is also a dog lover so I found some fabulous doggie print fabric to use...not sure if you can see it in this pic or not.

Comments are very much appreciated Smiley

I think brown is a perfectly good baby color and a great solution to the gender neutral dilema.  The quilt is beautiful.

beautiful quilt! I love the browns for a baby. My best friend (also online) is having twins in October, and has chosen brown/pink for the girl and brown/blue for the boy. So the brown quilt is very chic and trendy  Smiley

That's brilliant: brown as the new gender-neutral baby color. Screw yellow! Forget green!

Pretty quilt and what a good friend you are to make it and to take her tastes into consideration (and so stealthily, too, all stalking her registry).

Thank you all very much for your kind comments Smiley

I showed this thread to a mutual friend who knows both of us in real life (I only know the recipient on line sadly). She said the online friend will squeal in glee over this Cheesy Makes me feel good to say the least.

I didn't mention this in the original post, but the backing is polar fleece so it's super soft for baby.
